What this class is
This class is designed for youth hunters ages 11 and up to get practical safety and shooting training with rifles and shotguns for hunting, and to have fun.
Firearm safety is not something to be learned once. It must be practiced for a lifetime. Young hunters will learn how to safely move around in a hunting environment while handling firearms in exercises designed to make safety more automatic.
We will also go much deeper into shooting skills than traditional hunter safety classes to help young hunters make accurate and ethical shots on game. Very little rifle shooting will be done from a bench. Your young man or woman will be put in more challenging positions that they are more likely to encounter when hunting.
Shotgun shooting will be centered around pheasant hunting. We will work on walking with a shotgun in hand with others nearby, getting into position to make shots quickly, accurately, and safely. Hunters will also learn when to not shoot.
What this class is not
This is not a traditional hunter safety class or an official HUNTSafe class. This class will not fulfill requirements to obtain a hunting license.
