Classroom will be indoors and shooting will be done outdoors.
Course Description: Students will learn South Dakota law relating to firearms and the use of force, basic concepts of the safe and responsible use of handguns, self-defense principles, and live fire training including the firing of at least ninety-eight rounds of ammunition by the student.
Live fire training will focus on proper grip, stance, and trigger press.
**If you wish to sign up for more than just yourself, select the number of spots you wish to reserve and I will email you for names of the other students.
Course Requirements:
–Students must be at least 18 years of age
–Students must be able to load and operate their pistol without help.
–Bring your own pistol and magazines (conventional handguns only, no single action revolvers, no AR-style pistols, .22 semi-auto pistols are fine, know that your pistol works)
–100 rounds of new factory ammunition. No reloaded ammo.
–Eye and ear protection
–Closed toe shoes, no sandals or flip flops
–Pen, paper, laptop or tablet for taking notes however you desire.

Process for applying for the Enhanced Permit
1 – Pass the class. You will be issued a certificate of completion and fingerprint cards.
2 – Take certificate of completion and fingerprint cards to the sheriff’s office in the county in which you live. Your fingerprints will be taken and submitted for FBI background check. Background check can take 30 days or more to come back.
3 – Sheriff’s office will call you when your background check comes back. Within 30 days go back to sheriff’s office and pick up your temporary permit.
4 – Within 30 days the Secretary of State will send your blue card in the mail.
5 – Permit is good for 5 years. Renewal requires repeating this process.
***EFFECTIVE 7/1/2022 – All fees associated with ALL concealed pistol permits in South Dakota have been repealed after passage of SB 212. The only cost is the class for an Enhanced permit.
Refund Policy: Refunds are only granted if a class is canceled due to instructor scheduling conflict, instructor illness or family emergency. Otherwise we have a NO REFUND policy. Classes postponed due to weather are not subject to refund. If you unable to attend a course you have paid for, or it is postponed due to weather, you can apply your enrollment fee to a future class at no extra cost. If you are removed from the class you will not receive a refund.
